Kang is the second of the 28 Lunar Mansions, located on the neck of the Eastern Azure Dragon. In traditional calendar and date selection systems, it is associated with the metal day, and its symbolic animal is the dragon. Traditional almanacs generally classify Kang as an inauspicious mansion, deeming its day unsuitable for important activities such as groundbreaking, construction, marriage, or long journeys. Therefore, when consulting almanacs to choose auspicious dates, people traditionally avoided days governed by Kang, selecting instead periods ruled by other auspicious mansions. While modern society rarely adheres strictly to such mansion-based date selection, some people still reference these traditional auspicious and inauspicious associations as a cultural custom for important events like weddings, funerals, or major construction projects.
