Five Elements Query

The Five Elements (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, Water) are the core framework of traditional Chinese philosophy, describing the generative and restrictive relationships between all things. They correspond not only to natural seasons, directions, and colors, but also to the five organs, five flavors, and five emotions of the human body. Based on your birth Four Pillars, we calculate the quantity and role of each element to help you understand your elemental tendencies.

What Are the Five Elements?

The Five Elements are not five "substances," but five relational patterns: Wood represents growth and expansion, Fire represents rising and dispersal, Earth represents承载 and transformation, Metal represents contraction and descent, and Water represents nourishment and concealment. All phenomena can be categorized into these five patterns.

Generative Cycle

Wood generates Fire, Fire generates Earth, Earth generates Metal, Metal generates Water, Water generates Wood. The generative cycle represents a nourishing and promoting relationship—the former provides conditions for the latter to grow.

Restrictive Cycle

Wood restricts Earth, Earth restricts Water, Water restricts Fire, Fire restricts Metal, Metal restricts Wood. The restrictive cycle represents a balancing and controlling relationship—preventing any one element from over-expanding.

Ten Gods Relationships

Using the Day Master (the Heavenly Stem of your birth day) as the reference, other elements are divided into five roles: Companion (same as me), Resource (generates me), Output (I generate), Wealth (I control), and Influence (controls me). Each role represents different aspects of life.

Monthly Prosperity

The Month Branch (the Earthly Branch of your birth month) determines the dominant element of that month. When the Day Master is "prosperous" or "assisted" in the month branch, it is called "in season," which is the first criterion for judging strength.
