Room Mansion (Fáng Xiù)
The fourth of the Twenty-Eight Mansions, belonging to the Azure Dragon of the East. In the Seven Governors system, it is associated with the sun; its symbolic creature is the rabbit. It is generally classified as an auspicious mansion in almanacs.
Fang is the fourth of the Twenty-Eight Mansions and one of the seven mansions of the Azure Dragon of the East. Traditionally, its elemental association is with the sun (yang fire), and its corresponding symbolic creature is the rabbit. In almanacs, Fang is mostly categorized as an auspicious mansion, signifying that days when it is active are suitable for activities like sacrificial rites, praying for blessings, or business openings. Fang symbolizes the 'Hall of Light' or a dwelling. In astrology, it is associated with brightness and stability; thus, in the old practice of date selection, Fang days were chosen for events requiring smooth progress and tranquility. Although selecting dates based on mansions is no longer common today, the auspicious or inauspicious significance of Fang is still referenced in some traditional almanacs or folk rituals.
