Emptiness Mansion (Xū Xiù)
The 11th of the 28 Lunar Mansions, belonging to the northern Black Tortoise (Xuánwǔ). In the Seven Governors system it is paired with the Sun. Its symbolic creature is the Rat. Almanacs generally classify it as an inauspicious mansion.

Therefore, in old traditions of date selection, days governed by Xū were considered unsuitable for activities intended to bring good fortune, such as opening a business, breaking ground, or long journeys, and people would tend to choose another auspicious day.
