Changliu Shui

The Sixty Jiazi Nayin system assigns the five elements and specific imagery to combinations of the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches. Changliu Shui is one of the Nayin names, corresponding to the two pairs of stems and branches: Renchen and Guisi. Its imagery is derived from the water of rivers, and compared to other Nayin associated with Water, Changliu Shui symbolizes the quality of a continuous, enduring flow with a long source. In traditional applications such as date selection and fortune-telling, when an element of Water needs to be introduced into a BaZi (Four Pillars) chart or a date selection, the enduring and circulating nature represented by Changliu Shui is often used as a basis for judgment. For example, when choosing dates for breaking ground or opening a business, encountering Changliu Shui might be considered suitable for industries requiring long-term management and capital turnover. While it has fewer direct correspondences in modern life, the underlying concept of 'a small stream flows far' and stability can still serve as a reference for understanding the relevant cultural context.
