Thunderclap Fire (Pī Lì Huǒ)

Pīlì Huǒ is a fire-attribute nayin combination within the Sixty Jiazi cycle, corresponding to the two ganzhi of Wùzǐ and Jǐchǒu. Its name evokes the fire of lightning in the sky, traditionally characterized by its violent and instantaneous explosive nature, distinct from ordinary wood-fire or lamp-fire. In old almanacs, when analyzing a person's nayin (based on their birth year or day pillar) and encountering Wùzǐ or Jǐchǒu, this nayin was used to infer their five-element attribute. In folk divination for selecting auspicious days or as a reference in mìnglǐ, this classification is often used as an auxiliary basis for judging relationships of generation and restraint between things or for timing choices.
