Mulberry and Cudrania Wood (Sāng Zhè Mù)

Sangzhe Wood is a type within the sixty Jiazi Nayin five-element system, corresponding to the Renzi and Guichou years. Its imagery is derived from the mulberry tree and the zhe tree; the leaves of both trees can be used to raise silkworms, and the wood is practical. In traditional agricultural society, they held economic value. Therefore, in Nayin theory, this wood is often endowed with connotations of practicality and nourishment (such as raising silkworms). In the past, when discussing fate or selecting auspicious dates, if this Nayin was involved, it was often associated with farming, textiles, or fields related to people's livelihood. This represents a traditional way of thinking that analogizes plant characteristics to human affairs.
