An Ji (Loom Setup)
Setting up machinery, historically referring to the installation of a loom.
An Ji primarily refers to the installation of machinery such as looms for domestic or productive use. In the past, home-based handicraft industry, weaving was an important source of income, so installing a loom required selecting an auspicious day to ensure the machine's stability, a smooth weaving process, and to avoid thread breakage or accidental injury. This taboo reflects the emphasis traditional society placed on domestic handicraft production. Although mechanized production is now widespread, the related concept of selecting auspicious dates can still be seen in folk literature.
