In traditional society, this was an important activity for families or communities, aimed at seeking blessings, giving thanks for grace, or upholding the ethics of cherishing the memory of the departed and honoring ancestors. Old almanacs often listed sacrificial rites as auspicious events and would mark suitable days for them. In modern life, although the forms may be simplified, the core spirit of sacrificial rites is still preserved during important festivals such as Qingming, the Hungry Ghost Festival, or family ancestral rites.
