Bazhuan
A group of days where the Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches belong to the same element, traditionally avoided for marriage due to fears of marital discord.
Bazhuan refers to specific combinations of Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches where their elemental attributes are identical, such as Jiǎ-Yín (Wood-Wood) or Yǐ-Mǎo (Wood-Wood). Because both the stem and branch share the same element, traditional beliefs held that the energy of such days was too uniform or imbalanced, lacking the harmony of Yin and Yang. Especially concerning marriage, traditional almanacs often marked these days as inauspicious, fearing that if the couple's temperaments were too similar or their energies unbalanced, it could lead to disharmony and difficulty in mutual tolerance and coordination after marriage.
