Non-Clashing Day (Bù Jiāng)
A day when yin and yang do not conflict (i.e., not in a state of 'jiāng' or opposition), traditionally considered ideal for marriage and one of the primary bases for selecting a wedding date in the almanac.
In the old custom of selecting an auspicious wedding day, 'Bù Jiāng' was one of the most important criteria. Its core concept is that the heavenly stems and earthly branches of the day's yin and yang have no clashing or conflicting relationship—there is no state of 'jiāng' (forcing or opposition)—and thus it is seen as a day with harmonious energy. In traditional almanacs, if a wedding date could be set on a 'Bù Jiāng' day, it was generally considered more favorable for the newlyweds and conducive to family harmony. Although not always strictly followed in modern times, in some families or regions that value traditional customs, this type of auspicious sign is still referenced when choosing a wedding date.
