At the end of the mourning period, removing the mourning clothes. Also called 'tuō xiào' (removing mourning).
Chúfú, or tuō xiào, is the ritual of removing the mourning clothes upon the conclusion of the mourning period, symbolizing the end of the period of bereavement and a gradual return to normal life. Traditionally, the date for removing the mourning clothes is chosen carefully; the almanac indicates auspicious days for chúfú. It is believed that removing the mourning on a suitable day allows for a smooth transition, helping family members successfully reintegrate into daily life.
