In old times, it was considered taboo to plant vegetation, break ground for construction, or undertake building projects on this day, as it was believed that the fire star underground would be disturbed, leading to withered crops, stalled construction, or an unstable foundation. These taboos combine concepts of the Five Elements and earth worship, and are part of the date-selection culture in agrarian societies.
