Guchen (Solitary Star)

Derived from 'solitary/alone,' traditionally considered inauspicious for marriage and forming alliances.

The 'Guchen' day literally means 'solitary/alone.' In traditional Chinese date selection, it is seen as carrying an aura of isolation and lack of support. Traditionally, it was believed that undertaking matters requiring cooperation or forming alliances on such a day could easily lead to being isolated and unsupported, or foreshadow relationships that are difficult to sustain in the long term. Therefore, almanacs often advised avoiding holding weddings, engagement ceremonies, or important collaborative rituals on a Guchen day, to prevent planting seeds of fragility or alienation in future relationships.
