Gui Ku (Ghost Cry)
A day traditionally avoided for funerals and night travel.
"Gui Ku" is an inauspicious day in traditional Chinese time selection (擇日). On this day, old almanacs would specifically mark it as unsuitable for funerary affairs, such as burials and interments. It is also taboo to travel or go out at night, as the nocturnal atmosphere on this day is considered unfavorable and prone to encountering unlucky events. Such prohibitions reflect the ancient reverence for the balance of yin and yang energies at specific times, as well as the desire to avoid inauspicious moments to seek safety.
