Bride's First Return Home (Guī Níng)
The custom of a bride making her first visit back to her parents' home after the wedding.
Guīníng refers to the custom of a newly married woman returning to her parents' home for the first time after the wedding, also commonly known as 'huímén'. Traditionally, it takes place on the third day after the wedding, with the groom accompanying her, and gifts must be brought. This is an important ritual for the bride to report her well-being and express gratitude to her parents after leaving home. Choosing an auspicious day for it is to hope the entire process will be smooth and complete.
