Jin Renkou refers to adding new members to a household. In traditional society, this not only included newborns but broadly encompassed accepting new family members through adoption or formal inheritance, and historically even extended to hiring long-term servants or laborers. Because it involves changes in family structure and the influence of a new member's qi field, an auspicious day was traditionally chosen for related ceremonies—such as welcoming an adopted child, holding an inheritance ritual, or formally admitting a hired worker into the home—to promote family harmony and help the new member integrate smoothly. Although the old custom of formal inheritance is no longer practiced in modern society, some people still consult the almanac to choose a date when adopting a child or when moving into a new home for the first time.
