Haircutting

Shaving or trimming hair. In the past, a baby's first haircut of its birth hair was also included.

Refers to trimming or styling hair. In traditional folk customs, even a baby's first haircut of its birth hair is considered an important ritual, requiring the selection of an auspicious day, with the hope that the child will grow up healthy and intelligent. While ordinary adults may not always consult the almanac for a simple haircut, they often still refer to auspicious dates from the Tong Shu (almanac) for haircuts during certain special seasons (like the New Year or Dragon Boat Festival) or to coincide with important events, hoping to bring good fortune.
