Ruzhai (House-Entering)

Moving into a new residence and formally beginning to live there, commonly known as 'Ru Cuo'.

Ruzhai refers to moving into a newly built or newly purchased house and formally beginning to live there. In Taiwan, it is commonly called 'Ru Cuo'. Traditionally, moving into a brand-new space is considered a major event for a family, requiring the selection of an auspicious day and time to hold simple rituals such as An Xiang (incense placement) and An Chuang (bed setting) to symbolically 'activate' the residence, praying for future safety and prosperity. When modern people purchase new homes or move into new rentals, many still follow ancient customs and choose an auspicious day to conduct the moving-in ceremony.
