Four Consumptions (Sì Hào)

The Four Consumptions refer to a day in each of the four seasons that symbolizes depletion and loss. Traditionally, it was believed that on these days, wealth and resources were prone to leakage. Therefore, old almanacs explicitly forbade opening granaries or storing wealth on these days, believing that violating this taboo would easily lead to financial loss or poor harvests, emphasizing the need to conserve rather than expand.
