Sǐqì is one of the common inauspicious forces listed in old almanacs. Its name carries the meaning of "death," so it is traditionally associated with funerals and destruction. People in the past believed that days marked by Sǐqì were unsuitable for activities like seeking medical treatment, planting crops, or setting up the main pillars of a building, as these are all related to "life" and "establishment" and might suffer from the negative influence of this baleful force.
