One of the Twelve Duty Spirits, belonging to the Unlucky Path. Traditionally, it was considered inauspicious for travel, assuming a new post, or visiting distinguished persons on this day.
Tianlao is one of the Twelve Duty Spirits and belongs to the Unlucky Path, considered a malevolent star. Traditionally, almanacs often associated a day when Tianlao is on duty with imprisonment, misfortune, and general adversity. Therefore, in the past, it was avoided for long journeys, taking up a new official position, or visiting respected individuals, as it was believed to easily lead to obstacles, bad luck, or unexpected calamities.
