Tianshe

In the traditional calendar, Tianshe (天赦, 'Heavenly Pardon') refers to a few auspicious days each year when heaven is believed to pardon human transgressions, making all activities permissible.

Tianshe (天赦, 'Heavenly Pardon') is considered a greatly auspicious day in the old calendar almanacs, occurring only a few times a year. Traditionally, the Tong Shu (通書, 'Almanac') often regarded Tianshe days as special moments when heaven pardons earthly misdeeds; on these days, all taboos are lifted and all activities are suitable, especially for handling affairs that usually require caution or solemnity. The ancients saw it as an excellent opportunity to absolve faults and seek forgiveness, so many important matters were deliberately scheduled for these days.
