Earth Residence (Tǔ Fǔ)

The abode of the Earth God, traditionally a day to avoid breaking ground, digging wells, or repairing walls.

Tǔfǔ is a traditional astrological concept related to the Earth God, believed to be a place where the Earth God resides or a day when their power is strong. In traditional beliefs, activities like breaking ground or digging are thought to disturb the Earth God, so it is necessary to avoid days when the Earth God is on duty or their power is strong. Almanacs commonly mark this day as inauspicious, advising against construction projects involving ground-breaking, well-digging, or wall repairs that directly contact the earth, in order to ensure peace and avoid offending the Earth God and inviting disaster.
