Blood Branch (Xuè Zhī)
A sha (煞) of the same class as Xuèjì, traditionally a day to avoid acupuncture, surgery, and slaughter.
Xuèzhī and Xuèjì belong to the same class of malevolent sha (煞), with names that reference 'blood' (血). In traditional Chinese date selection, a Xuèzhī day is also taboo for any activity that might cause bleeding or bodily harm. Therefore, it was traditionally avoided for medical procedures like acupuncture and surgery, as well as for slaughtering animals. Its purpose is the same as Xuèjì: to avoid violating taboos related to blood and to pray for safety.
