Moving the Coffin (Yí Jiù)
Move the coffin.
Yí jiù refers to moving the coffin during funeral rites, for example from the home to a funeral parlor or from the mourning hall to the burial site. In traditional practice, the timing of this move is carefully chosen; almanacs indicate auspicious days for yí jiù. It is believed that proceeding on a lucky day avoids disturbing the deceased and ensures the transfer goes smoothly, without bringing negative effects on the living.
