Traveling Horse (Yì Mǎ)
It signifies travel and relocation; traditionally, it was auspicious for journeys, moving house, and assuming a new post.
Yima, literally 'post horse,' originally referred to the horses used in ancient relay stations to deliver documents, symbolizing rapid movement. In traditional date selection, the appearance of Yima on a given day or in a given month is believed to infuse the time with qualities of travel and change. Therefore, almanacs of the past often recommended performing tasks related to movement—such as long journeys, relocating, or assuming a new official position—on such days, as it was thought to bring smooth assistance. Conversely, activities that require stability and discourage change were typically avoided on Yima days.
