Wandering Misfortune (Yóu Huò)
Taken from the meaning of 'wandering calamity,' it was traditionally avoided for taking medicine, seeking medical treatment, and performing sacrifices.
The name Yóuhuò (遊禍) derives from its meaning of 'wandering calamity,' implying that misfortune is not fixed but roams. In traditional folk beliefs, this is considered an inauspicious day when the qi is unstable and prone to trigger unforeseen disasters. Consequently, it was traditionally taboo to seek medical treatment or take medicine on this day, fearing illness might recur or medicine would be ineffective; sacrifices and other rituals were also avoided, lest they attract impurity or have the opposite of the intended effect.
