Zuo-ce refers to constructing or repairing a toilet. In traditional feng shui and folk beliefs, the toilet is considered a place where impure qi gathers, so its location and the timing of its construction must be handled carefully. In the past, people believed that choosing an auspicious day to build a toilet could avoid the clash of impure qi, ensure smooth construction, and guarantee the long-term stability and hygiene of the facility. Even in modern construction, despite significant technological advances, some individuals still consult the tongshu (almanac) when building a house or undertaking major renovations to select a day 'suitable for construction' to start building a toilet, seeking peace of mind.
