Dyeing Cloth (Zuò Rǎn)
Dyeing cloth.
Zuòrǎn refers to the process of dyeing fabric or clothing. Traditionally, dyeing cloth required a large amount of water and dye, making it a task closely associated with 'water'. In old-day date selection, such activities often needed to choose an auspicious day to ensure a smooth process, vibrant color, and resistance to fading, while avoiding taboos related to water. Although it is rare for modern households to dye their own cloth, relevant folk considerations sometimes still influence the start dates of large-scale textile or dyeing and finishing factories.
