'Gē Mì' refers to the practice of harvesting honey produced by bees. This is a seasonal agricultural activity. Traditionally, the timing of the harvest was believed to be closely related to weather and flowering seasons, but it was also influenced by folk customs. Old almanacs would mark days suitable for 'Gē Mì'; people believed harvesting on these days not only ensured better honey quality and yield but also avoided harming the bee colony or affecting the next year's harvest. Today, professional beekeepers primarily decide on harvesting times based on the condition of the bee colony and flowering seasons. However, in some rural areas that follow traditions, elderly people may still consult the almanac to choose an auspicious day to begin.
